Chankonabe/Sumo Stew

This stew is packed with vegetables, proteins and carbs - when it’s through with you, you’ll be on the ground unable to move a limb. No wonder real sumos usually eat this before a long digestive nap😋

I will say this is the favourite food in our home. We tried it after seeing a documentary about sumo wrestling on TV. We love it for its simplicity and that you can basically cook this with anything you have in the fridge, as long as you have the basic ingredients for the Dashi stock on hand. 🌱Ingredients
~ 2 litres water
~ 2 tbsp Dashi stock powder
~ 1 tbsp Miso paste
~ 1 tsp Mirin ~ any vegetables you love/have on hand (eg, squash, leek, spring onions, cabbage, mushrooms, etc)
~ any proteins you love/have on hand (eg, tofu, fish balls, sliced beef, etc)
~ any type of noodle (Udon is most authentic, but really anything goes)

How to
✔️ Bring water to boil in a pot. Add Dashi powder, Miso paste and Mirin.
✔️ Add meat, noodles, tofu - anything that takes longer to cook
✔️ Add vegetables until cooked
Enjoy! .
